The Blocks

In 1981, IRA prisoners in The H Blocks embarked on a hunger strike. It lasted a total of 217 days and ten men died.

This controversial act of defiance led to drastic changes in the landscape of Northern Ireland with consequences rippling down to this present day.

Based on extensive research and interviews with former prisoners 'The Blocks' was devised by the company and directed by Shane Dempsey.
